First had contact with a HR recruiter. Questions were basic get to know you, background, qualification questions. I was told I probably don’t have the experience in Py and R they were looking for. I was okay with this and left the conversation on good terms that I probably wasn’t a right fit. I surprisingly got a second interview with the hiring managers. This is where the experience went wrong. I could immediately tell the hiring managers weren’t even interested in me. One was barely even paying attention to me as I was talking (looking at his computer screens reading other things, looking away 90 degrees for extended periods of time). The questions they asked were either super easy (something anyone applying to this job would know) or designed to demonstrate that I lacked the skill they were looking for after I had described my experience in that particular skill set. Rather than learning how much I know through probing questions, they just straight up asked “tell me how to do this…”. When I couldn’t give them a correct answer or what they were looking for they also failed to provide any feedback on my answer, they just sat there in silence and tried to come up with a new question. It was clear that I wasn’t what they were looking for and that I was wasting their time, and frankly after that interview experience I thought they wasted my time as well.
