Met with Recruiter to discuss job fit and my past experience. Next was a 60 minute technical interview which included a coding exercises with two team members.
The recruiter (Lauren) was very helpful, and responsive to questions. Also kept me informed of any updates as they occurred.
For the coding portion, my solution worked, and used functions provided by the standard Python library. The interviewer kept pushing me to find a "simpler" solution that doesn't use the standard library, and I wasn't able to do that on the spot. This was my bad as I was afraid I'd sink my chances for asking a basic question to clarify what he was talking about. (They were helpful in other instances though). After the interview, I did like 2 seconds of googling, and figured out what they were trying to get me to do. I feel like this tanked my chances, but I'm not sure.
The recruiter sent a very nice response, and it sounds like it may have just been due to someone else being a better fit for the team at the moment. No hard feelings, and I'd definitely apply again in the future.
