I applied through university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Ropes & Gray (New York, NY) in Aug 2011
Interview
I signed up through the on-campus recruiting at my law school, and secured an interview following a review of my resume. The first 30-min interview was very casual and relaxed, and the interviewer was amazing - very friendly and supportive. I secured a "call back" which consisted of a 15-min meeting with my original interviewer who was supposed to be my support for the day - he was fantastic in that he gave me advice on how to handle the interviews for the day. I then had 4 30-min meetings with mid-level associates (1), partners (3), and then a 2 hour lunch with two first year associates. Within 48 hours I was then called and offered the job.

Question 1
What is it about Ropes & Gray that speaks to you directly?
Really drawn out- straight to callback but had to wait a while to get the interview scheduled. Had the interview and it has been a month since then with no further information. This is the case with many people. I think in 2025-26 they are unsure on how to approach the hiring cycle.

Question 1
why their firm, obviously. Resume specific stuff too
I applied online. I interviewed at Ropes & Gray (New York, NY) in Jan 2026
Interview
Four interviewers, very conversational and causal. Have a Why Ropes? ready. Also have questions for the interviewers, I found that they spoke for about 75% of the time. Overall, very relaxed experience.
Really conversational and focused on the resume. Some behavior questions, but really easy to answer. The interviewer is the partner, and she is super nice. 20-min OCI interview, really normal and general.
