1 in person interview with the CEO. Classic interview questions, we got along well and I was invited back for another. I met with one of the Account Managers, and that is when the doubt set in.
He started describing his sales tactics and explaining the company, then used a Grant Cardone interview question about selling water or yourself. I sold the water. He asked why would you not sell yourself? This is an interview. I told him he just spent 5 minutes telling me about his wild night at the bar with the company and how bad his throat hurt. I think that caught him off guard. And he got very defensive.
They do offer base pay, but it's far below industry average. The only way to make money is the commission only option. I asked the Account Manager what he thought about working commission only, and he said, "does it sound like a pyramid scheme?" - Well it did as soon as he followed up with that response.
I was offered the job but decided to look elsewhere, and when I told the CEO he responded, "Do you not think you are able to make the sales? Probably for the best you don't work here." I just found that petty and unnecessary.
