The interview was a mess from the very beginning. After confirming the time for a telephone interview via email, I called exactly at the agreed time. Instead of starting the interview, he said he was busy and hung up immediately. It wasn’t until a full day later that he finally responded, asking to reschedule for a few days later—again, with no apology or acknowledgment of his unprofessional behavior.
When I called back at the new time, things only got worse. After a brief self-introduction, he started asking questions in broken English. He asked if I knew “ski len,” and when I tried to clarify if he meant “scikit-learn,” he became irritated, insisting it was “sklearn,” as if those two weren’t the same thing. I explained that sklearn is a Python machine learning library, and he seemed to finally realize we were talking about the same topic but quickly dodged the question. He then asked if I knew about “deep connection” in sklearn. I asked if he meant neural networks, but he kept repeating “deep connection” without explaining what he meant. When I tried to explain neural networks, he rudely interrupted me and said, “Deep connection is basic; you can just Google it. Your fundamentals are too weak, and you can’t answer any of my questions.”
The most ridiculous part? Despite this insulting, arrogant behavior, he still extended me a job offer. He said, “With your poor foundation, you’ll have a lot to learn once you join the company,” followed by an offer with a low salary and a three-month probation period, as if that was a favor.
If you want to avoid wasting your time on an interview with an unprofessional, condescending boss, I strongly suggest you skip this company. It will save your life.
