      Graphic Designer Interview

      13 Feb 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ridwell (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Went through three rounds of interviews and completed the assignment (which had two parts). I thought the interview went well, and there were no issues on my end. I just know they have high expectations for the position they’re hiring for. Initially, they wanted a junior marketing designer as the sole designer for the team. But after going through the interviews, I realized the role carried way too much responsibility for a junior. It felt like they either didn’t know what they wanted, were trying to cut costs, or didn’t understand the difference between a junior and a senior designer. Their previous designer, who was a senior, left to pursue freelancing, and they expected the new hire to fill that role—which was really confusing. Why hire a junior to replace a senior? In the end, I didn’t get the offer because I’m a junior, but they also had to repost the job looking for a senior designer instead. Honestly, I find it pretty hilarious and a waste of time for both me and them. But looking on the bright side, I avoided what could have been a disorganized and messy workplace where I might have been undervalued and overworked. And the interview experience wasn’t so bad—it helped me build confidence, and I could use that for my next interview.
