I applied for a customer service position at Rezponz through their website. I continued my usual job search, sending out 3–5 targeted applications per week, which isthe norm.
I was suddenly called by an employee from Rezponz who asked me to introduce myself and explain why I wanted to work for them. I have never before experienced being cold-called for a job interview without any prior contact, and to say the least, it completely threw me off. I apologized multiple times for not being prepared and had difficulty collecting my thoughts. The interviewer responded that as a job seeker, I should expect to be called without notice, which is something I strongly disagree with. Especially when there has been no prior communication on the next steps.
During the conversation, I was repeatedly asked whether I even knew which job I had applied for, and the interviewer grew more and more annoyed with me. It made me appear unserious and disorganized, even though I clearly remembered both the position and the company afterward. The issue wasn’t a lack of memory or commitment on my part, but rather a lack of context and respectful communication on theirs.
It left me with the impression that the company does not respect applicants in their recruitment process. Being assessed based on an unannounced, spontaneous conversation without any time to prepare feels both unfair and unethical, especially in a situation where many people are applying for multiple positions and doing their best to stay organized.
The conversation lasted six uncomfortable minutes and naturally ended in a rejection, which I completely understand. But it could have been a far more respectful interaction. When hiring for a customer service role, one should demonstrate understanding and empathy when engaging with people. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Rezponz.
It would have made a significant difference if I had received a professional confirmation with a short message stating that I would be contacted. That way, I could have prepared and shown my best side. After the conversation, I felt very uncomfortable and was left feeling as if I had been caught in an unfair situation where I was indirectly made to feel responsible for wasting their time.
I left a review on Trustpilot and recieved two phone calls from them. I have no interest in communicating with this company, and the reviews were swiftly removed as that was not the correct place to leave interview reviews.
