I was approached by the product lead, exchanged multiple messages on LinkedIn, and scheduled an initial hour-long call, followed by a second 30-minute call with the Talent Acquisition Manager. After these interactions, I received a rejection email stating, "we have decided to continue the process with other applicants." I found this generic response quite disrespectful, given the time and effort invested in the process.
When I requested specific feedback, the reply was, "Thank you for your message. We do understand that feedback to your application is important to you. Unfortunately, we receive a lot of applications every day, which is why we can't provide detailed feedback regarding your application."
Applicants value personalized feedback, especially after multiple interactions. Treating candidates as mere numbers demonstrates that the company prioritizes its own convenience over respectful engagement with candidates. I understand when the company sends generic responses due to high applicant volume if no interaction has occurred and they need to filter a large number of applicants. However, once candidates have participated in one or more interviews, there should be a little more effort in the response.
