The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at RTX (Garland, TX) in Feb 2008
Interview
Initial contact was a phone call from the hiring manager expressing interest to conduct initial interview over the phone. During the initial phone interview, the hiring manager provided overview of the team and some of the products/services the team supported. Hiring manager then focused on my past experience, wanting to know what are my perceived strengths and weaknesses. After the initial phone interview, we've exchange few more emails and than I received contact from company HR (talent acquisition) representative to schedule onsite interview.
The onsite interview consists of taking you into a conference room and meeting with a panel of interviewers. In my case I had a panel interview consisted of the manager and the team leads. The onsite panel interview had more emphasis on skills and scenario based problem solving questions. Another aspect of the interview was how motivated I am regarding to the position. My enthusiasm and response to questions like "why do you want to leave your current job" to "what do you see yourself in 5 years" hinted to me that they wanted to see if someone can readily adjust to the unique working culture at this business site.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at RTX (Goleta, CA)
Interview
The interview process mainly consisted of questions pertaining to your resume and STAR questions. To prep for this interview, I would revise your resume and make sure you know everything about your resume. Moreover, I would practice basic STAR questions.
I applied for this job on company's career portal. I didn't receive any updates about my application for a couple of months. I received an automated email from recruiter stating that my application is being considered for the role. Email has million questions to answer before proceeding to next step. I wasted an hour to compile my answers and replied to that spam email.
As soon as I sent the email, I received an automated email stating that I'm suddenly no longer being considered. It seems like they just want to grab personal data from applicants for marketing and profiling purpose.
I hope they are a bit more transparent in the hiring process rather than discriminating candidates based on public and personal information submitted in applicant profile.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RTX (Tucson, AZ)
Interview
HR Screen, then panel interview. Panel interview consisted of the basic STAR interview process and then technical questions. The interviewers were very polite and helped with answers if I was unable to come up with the correct one. Questions seemed to be more gauged at trying to get an understanding of how much you know and how your thought process works.
