Interview left an extremely nasty aftertaste in my mouth.
The first thing the interviewer did was to comment on my looks, stating that I do not look like the picture in my portfolio. I guess this company places top priority on candidates who are good looking instead of their level of competency??
Next, interviewer commented that my past projects are not "beautiful" and compared them to their landed housing projects. Interviewer then whipped out printed pages of renderings done by their employees and questioned "do u think u can produce these kind of beautiful drawings? I don't think you can." Mind you, those so-called renderings are not even amazing and looks like they're merely screenshots from sketchup.
Finally, interviewer lowballed, stating that the company cannot pay my current rate, and is requesting for ~13% paycut, but they are able to provide me with valuable design experience instead (same old money in exchange for experience BS). Interviewer also asked whether money is of any importance to me.
They claim to be an award winning architectural firm but theyre just not there. They boast about designing with curves (house of sanctum) but it just looks like a twisted flexible curve ruler, with zero 3d curves. Honestly, if you want to learn design, you are better off applying to an sg based foreign company.
