      Interview

Heard about job opportunity through a friend who'd been contacted by a recruiter. Got in touch with the recruiter, who asked me some basic questions, then arranged a phone interview with a manager and a software team lead. It was a fairly typical phone screening interview, with some good technical questions. They asked me to fly into NY for an in-person interview. Concurrently, they also asked me to do a take-home coding challenge, but were quite low-pressure about it and didn't impose a deadline. The coding challenge was not trivial, but not terribly time-consuming. The interview process up to this point was fine, but I was feeling lukewarm about the company until I went to visit the office; I really liked all the people I met, and everyone was quite friendly and welcoming. Office had a great atmosphere and they gave me some food and a chance to unwind before jumping into serious interviews (which was much appreciated after a long morning of travel). Interviewed with several people from engineering and product teams, and also got to talk briefly with the president, the CEO, and the head of engineering. They were quick to follow up with an offer, and were good, responsive communicators throughout the process.
