      Interview

*WARNING* This company is not to be trusted. Read for details. - Phone screen with the internal recruiter - Interview with CEO - Was asked to complete a lengthy assignment where I had to present the current business model and landscape of the company and propose a marketing plan. This involved a meeting where I was able to ask questions about the business, and then the presentation to the CEO and the COO. - Final round was the culture interview with the CEO and oddly, the Director of Engineering - I have no idea what the context was regarding his involvement in this round. After this point is where I'm at a complete loss for words around what happened. I met with the internal recruiter after the culture interview where she mentioned to me they were interested in making an offer and asked for my references. I then was able to meet with the COO to ask any questions I wanted to ask. That call went great and he confirmed with me that an offer was coming. His exact words were "yes, we are at the offer stage." I knew they were checking my references so I waited a few days but reached out to the recruiter when I didn't hear back. 5 days after my great call with the COO, the recruiter called me to let me know that the CEO had changed her mind. She had no insight into the decision and was confused as I was about the whole thing. She told me my references were strong and that there were no other candidates they were considering at that point. In fairness, I truly appreciate her candor and honesty---she could have easily left it vague, but instead she gave me as much information as she had regarding what happened, and recommended I email leadership directly to see if I could get the context she was unable to get. I still haven't heard back from them. So after completing 5 interview rounds and taking the time to put together a marketing plan for this company, they've shown a complete lack of disrespect for me and the time I put into the process. I was weary about joining based on the Glassdoor reviews of the CEO, and luckily she confirmed for me that they were true before I joined, rather than discovering it on my own too late.
