Interviewed in person with the hiring manager and was offered the position after the interview. I asked for a starting date two weeks later to provide my current job an official two week notice. I was informed that it was fine. I proceeded with a urine test and was informed by the front office staff that I was cleared for hire. I was told to bring in my social security card in person, and they asked me for my starting date. I reiterated the starting date with the hiring manager, and was informed that I would hear back from HR about first-day procedures and paperwork. After not hearing back for a few days, I emailed the front desk and was informed that they would forward the information to the hiring manager. I called back the next day and was informed they had offered the role to another person. I asked for clarification on the decision, and they said it was because the hiring manager wanted someone to start earlier. I emailed the hiring manager, but was ghosted.
I'm utterly disappointed by the lack of professionalism - especially since I was told that my two week start date was initially fine. Due to this, I no longer have a job since I provided my two week notice.
