I applied for this job through their web site.
It was listed as the location being in Renton Washington.
A couple days later, I was called by the HR recruiter for a phone interview. The very first question she asked me was if I was willing to relocate to Eastern Washington, since this position is located there. I was taken back by this and answer that I could not relocate, and that I thought the job was located in Renton. She replied back, oh maybe they listed it in Renton too.
I didn't hear anything back for about a month, and get a call that they would like me to do an in person interview, and that the job was now going to be located in Renton.
Before I could do the phone interview, I had to do an 'online' interview. Which consisted of several pre-recorded questions that you had to answer using a web cam or phone. Each question gave you about 20 seconds to think about your answer. I've never done this before, and it was a little odd.
After completing this, I finally did the in person interview.
It was a panel interview, with about other people. some were in the room, the others called in. This made things very difficult because of technical difficulties with conference call being distorted and hard to hear.
At the end of the interview, one of my questions were when they were hoping to make their decision. They said by the end of the week, I said great and hope to hear from them soon.
I do want to say that everyone was friendly and answered any questions I had.
Later the same night I sent the recruiter a Thank You email, and also asked to please pass that on to the interview panel.
2 weeks go by, and I don't hear anything.
I follow-up with the recruiter, who tells me that the hiring manager is on vacation. Will be back next week.
Another 2 weeks go by, and I then notice that the job has been re-posted on Indeed but is slightly different. I email the recruiter asking if this is the same position or something new. She replies back with that the hiring manager is on vacation and she will follow-up next week.
Another month goes by, and I log into their job site and see I was not selected.
I email the recruiter telling her thank you for the opportunity to be considered and to please thank everyone in the panel. I also asked if there was any feedback by the panel that I could use for any future openings that might come up at Providence. NO RESPONSE!!!!
I just find that incredibly unprofessional, you have a candidate that is very excited about a position, showing interest in it and the company. And the recruiter can't spend a few minutes to follow-up with the candidates?
I think this looks poorly on the company as a whole, the recruiters should be following up with candidates, or at the very least let them know if a position was actually filled.
