I received an email regarding a frontend development exercise. It included a link to the exercise and mentioned I would be contacted for a conversation about their recruitment process, etc. However, I was never contacted about this.
The exercise only included desktop design specifications (which was unusual, as typically one would receive a Figma file with comprehensive information, including versions for different devices).
Unlike other companies, they didn't specify which frontend framework to use. (While this sounds nice, there was strangely no explanation about how the final evaluation would be conducted.) Backend implementation could be ignored, and you could use whatever tools you wanted!
In my experience working with frontend development at experienced companies, there are always responsive designs, style guides, and design systems in place. In this exercise, there was zero mention of any of these elements.
Technical issues uploading:
The file upload feature on their website wasn't storing information properly... for a software company, this is nonsensical!
It seems this company is negligent regarding frontend development, as they claimed the exercise "didn't meet" their quality standards. This is a generic argument that absolves them of providing proper analysis.
Just from this interaction, it's clear they live in their own bubble. I would venture to say that working in frontend development there would be detrimental to one's work experience and future as a developer.
They should rename themselves to "Premium Egos".
Good riddance!
