First, I had to do a project then once the project was evaluated, did a phone screening with HR which they said was just a "practice." I did not go any further than that. Didn't get the role.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Sept 2022
Interview
The interview process begins with your application, which, in most cases, needs an internal employee listed as a references to even be considered. (My experience is limited to entry-level jobs applied to). Then you are asked to participate in a blind assessment that is specific to the role. If you do well on the assessment, you will be invited to a screening interview with HR and then an interview with the hiring manager(s) for the position. They are very communicative throughout the entire process, but it’s definitely difficult to break into the industry. Many I’ve spoken to and myself have gone through many applications and even interviews before landing a job.
