I interviewed at PearFiction Studios (Montreal, QC)
Interview
They asked me to do an art test in Spine, a software I was previously unfamiliar with. I think the test was just to see who would take the interview process seriously and verify that you're actually looking for a job.
In the interview was with their HR peson and a Creative Director (?) who was located outside the country. They asked me to give them a tour of my website and asked questions about my process making the art test. The HR lady was very kind, sociable, and seemed interested in me as a person.
They ultimately went with someone who had more experience in the gambling industry, but in her email, the HR lady said she did advocate for me as a candidate.
Ultimately, if I was given the offer I would have been conflicted on whether to accept. Gambling is a contentious subject in the gaming industry and the line between microtransactions and slot machines can be blurry. The people who worked there seemed like nice people, maybe they sensed that a junior artist straight out of college may have reservations... Who knows?
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What was your thought process in making the art test?
I applied online. I interviewed at PearFiction Studios
Interview
They will do exactly what the other reviewer said, show interest in your background and lowball you. Sketchy owner and business practices. Environment sucks. Do yourself a favour and interview elsewhere.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe projects you’ve worked on. Have you worked on browser games etc
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PearFiction Studios (Montreal, QC) in Feb 2024
Interview
Simple interview, bad experience.
After the interview ended, they didn't provide any feeback further, no response even though they contacted me first and seemed really interested in my background.
Fake interest and shady culture.
