      Strategic Account Manager Interview

      15 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Paycom in Jul 2024

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn as I had my "Open To Work" banner on. I decided to speak with the recruiter about this role and it was a very short call as the role did not align with my Open To Work preferences. I was looking for fully remote or hybrid work and this role was 2 days in office and 3 days meeting clients in your territory. The territory covered 2 counties and required a monthly trip to a territory about 7 hrs away. The recruiter let me know that sometimes they have Project Manager roles open and that is fully in office but does not require travel. She said she would reach out if one of those opportunities became available. Overall the conversation was fine, but it would have been nice if the recruiter had done their research on me before reaching out. While I understand "why are you open to work?" is a standard question, having to recap that I was recently laid off from my previous role is never fun (and this is on my LI profile!) Also, when reaching out on LI, it would be helpful if the recruiter had sent a copy of the job post and not just told me the title and I had to seek out the job posting on their site.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Paycom (Raleigh, NC) in Feb 2026

      Interview

Was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn, met with them for half an hour via phone and then the hiring manager for about an hour on Zoom. I overall really enjoyed the process and appreciated the straightforward communication around promotions, pay, onboarding, and general expectations as very few companies have that sort of transparency in the hiring process these days. The vibe of the reviews made it seem pretty intense and that aligns with my perception after interviewing. I don't think I would have accepted had I gotten an offer for that reason. However, it seems to be a very rewarding opportunity if you're willing to make that trade-off.
