Paypal recruiter reached out to me to take a one hour hackerrank that included 3 medium difficulty questions. The prompts were all short novels so understanding each one really cuts into development time. They say you can use an IDE then their test warns you that your cheating actions are being forwarded to the hiring team if you alt tab. So I code the solution entirely in the browser which eats away at the timer some more. Finished two and passed the visible test cases, needed more time for #3. Rejection e-mail shortly thereafter. We haven't even had a conversation or discussed the position yet.
