I applied online. I interviewed at Parker Towing (New York, NY)
Interview
After previously speaking to the hiring agent about scheduling an interview. I assumed I was contacted by a recruiter. I was given the impression that this position would be catered for individuals seeking a mere stepping stone. Not what I am looking for.
They used the standard cookie cutter format for obtaining background/experience for the interviewee. A big red flag and discouraging point was. The interviewer seemed to possess no working knowledge of coast guard licensing requirements for inland. Expect a lot of double talk and side stepping.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Parker Towing (Mobile, AL) in Jul 2016
Interview
It was a fast affair filled with promises that weren't met. The guy was trying to hook in anyone. He interviewed me, and two other guys at the same time and just seemingly randomly picked who was captain, and relief captain. He was desperate for someone.

Question 1
How would you like to be posted with 2 barges, and then maybe push 4 when we repower the vessel? (They did not repower the vessel- 4 regs with an 800)
