      C++ Developer Interview

      Application

      I applied through university. I interviewed at Panzura (Pune) in Jan 2025

      Interview

      The company was hiring freshers for the first time, and the recruitment process took place at their office. Students from 4-5 shortlisted colleges were invited, and the process began at 10 AM. The company staff was welcoming, providing breakfast for all candidates. The selection process started with a written test, categorized into Java and C++ based on preference. The test included OOPs, pseudocode, one coding question, and a mix of MCQs and theoretical questions (9-12 in total). Out of 70-80 students, around 20 were shortlisted for the interview, including 12 from our college—I was one of them. Before our interviews, we spoke to other candidates who had already faced theirs. Most of the questions were scenario-based. When my turn came, I initially felt nervous, but as the interview progressed, I became more comfortable. The discussion was based on my CV, and they asked about DBMS, OS, SQL, and Linux commands since I had mentioned using a Linux-based OS. They also inquired about my projects, but most questions were scenario-based, which I hadn’t specifically prepared for. The interviewers weren’t fully satisfied with my responses but remained supportive. The interview process had two technical rounds, but I was not selected for the second.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      What happens in the memory at the backend from code compilation to execution? If you know the process ID, which command would you use to kill the process? Given a large dataset where you know the data and their IDs, which data structure would you prefer for searching? Which one have you used—SQL or NoSQL? Which is better and why? What is indexing? How does it help in searching when we don’t know the primary key or specific details?
