I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Paige (Coventry, England) in Aug 2019
Interview
I had 4 interview sessions,
The first one was just about getting to know the company and talking about generic stuff.
The second session was a code interview where I had to go over one my codes and explain line by line and the logic behind the usage of some functions or commands/syntaxes.
Third session was presenting my research work to the group of people and then was asked some questions about my presentation, afterwards I had one to one interview with three of their AI scientists. They asked me about details of my research and some basic machine learning questions.
4th one was talking to a software engineer. He asked very general questions about writing code. How a good and clean code is written?
Some questions about git?
Code test!
There was one HR call for 30 mins and a 45 mins background screening with the Tech lead. Finally, there is a technical interview on machine machine. But it trurns out to be algorithm question under the shell of data loader.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paige in Apr 2021
Interview
There were three rounds
The first round was speaking to the company about expectations. There were no technical questions, more about getting to know each other.
The second round was a code interview. I was asked to solve some questions with an AI scientist, using Python and NumPy. Then I had to provide him with a code sample of a paper in which I was the lead contributor, and walk him through the code.
The final round was a 1 hour presentation, followed by 3 1 on 1 interviews with an AI scientist, an engineering manager, and the head of AI. The presentation was about a couple of published papers which I was the main author. The interviews with AI scientist and head of AI further discussed these papers. The interview with the engineering manager was about best coding practices.
I received a rejection a week after the final interview round. All in all, the process took less than a month.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions about my research and basic questions about machine learning related to my research topic.
Questions about Git and code reviews.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Paige (New York, NY) in Mar 2020
Interview
Several stages:
- Zoom call with AI engineers where went through a public repo of mine, which they asked me provide a week before.
-On-site
-- Research presentation: 1 hour presentation about my own research, they were very inquisitive about my research both during the QA session and in later interviews.
-- Whiteboard interview with 2 engineers (algorithms + data structures): Started with basic questions, then moved towards more open-ended questions (e.g. How would you make this faster?).
-- Whiteboard interview with 2 engineers (ML knowledge), some math questions and going through pytorch code on a screen.
-- 2 1:1s with a Senior AI scientist (ML knowledge): Questions about both my research and general ML knowledge.
-- 1:1 with 1 AI scientist (research and coding, behavioral), chatted about our research, and past experience.
-- 1:1 with VP of engineering (past experience)
Overall, I found everybody I talked with to be nice people with a positive attitude and passion towards what they are trying to accomplish as a company.
