I interviewed at Pacific Smoke International (Markham, ON)
Interview
There was a screening interview with HR and then a phone interview with the CEO followed by an in-person as well as a personality test that you're sent during the screening process. The interviewing process seems like it came out of an HR textbook from university as the questions asked seem very formal vs conversational. During the final round interview process there was math involved, something that threw me by a loop because it was calculate the change in profit margin and things like this at a director level are done in spreadsheets.
After the interview I got a tour of their facility. I was then contacted by the initial HR person to be advised that the organization changed their mind about the role and is now looking for a Marketing & Revenue Director.
Disappointing that they are posting jobs and taking up people's time without being clear on what they're looking for.
I obviously dodged a bullet by not getting this job. If you can't even streamline your hiring process then I'd hate to know what their SOPs are like. I imagine this to be a very chaotic place to work.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Your sales were $500,000, your cost of goods sold was $10,000, your cost of goods sold goes up by 5% - what's your profit margin.
Phone call, and one to one video call. People were nice and friendly, however the process was not professional. Technical interview went first, and they tested you all the Excel Formula, which did not make sense. We use AI now, we do not need to memorize all the formula in head, it is wasting time.
