1) Initially send my resume/CV and received a request to follow-up within a week.
2) Phone interview, which lasted approximately 20 minutes. All normal questions; nothing that threw me.
3) When they wanted to move forward, they asked me to create a mockup of some features (which was fun to write/create, but also pretty time-consuming). Submitted the sample, then had a second phone interview to discuss.
4) Had a second phone interview with the same Editor.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked about experience, my interests, what other sites I frequent, my social use/interest, etc.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at POPSUGAR (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2016
Interview
It was an ok experience overall... but i felt like before the interview even started, it was pretty clear they already had their mind up about who they were going to hire (and it wasn't me). The second woman that interviewed me acted BEYOND bored and uninterested in anything i had to say. Maybe she was having an off day, i don't know. But it was awkward and unwelcoming.

Question 1
Why do you want to work for us?
Which celebrities do you follow and why?
What do you think about the Kardashians? (yep, that was an actual question)
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you felt unwelcome - that is definitely not the experience we want candidates to have when they interview with us. If you could share with me any specifics around the behaviors that made you feel that way, I would greatly appreciate it. That way we can coach our interviewers. A lot of time people have no idea how they're being perceived and that feedback would be very helpful to us.
Thank you,
Elise Holland
