I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PENNYMAC (Tampa, FL) in Apr 2020
Interview
After the first hiring manager missed the interview I contacted the recruiter and he rescheduled with another manager. The hiring manager called and asked me one question and then asked if I had any questions, and that was the extent of it. I was laid off due to COVID-19 and thought getting into finance would be a good career change with my administrative experience. The manager clearly had not reviewed my resume until the interview was taking place. The first thing he said is all of my experience is in the hospitality industry (like it’s a bad thing?). Then asked “what are you looking to do?”. Strange question, obviously I’m looking to work. Mind you, this was for an entry level position that had zero prerequisites. I wouldn’t have wasted time going through this whole process if I weren’t interested in staying with the company long term if it was a good fit. He basically said the hospitality industry will come back once all of this is over. Apparently he knows more about the pandemic and the economy than the rest of us. He asked me no other interview questions and the call was less than 10 minutes. It was clear the manager thinks I’m just looking for something until I get my job back (which isn’t the case) and couldn’t be bothered to conduct an actual interview. I am extremely disappointed in the behavior of this person and I was not given a fair chance because he already made up his mind before it even started. But based on the reviews from employees with the company it’s probably for the best. Good luck to anyone else considering a career with PennyMac.
I started with a staffing company that arranged the interview. It was one video interview with the VP and an operations manager. The whole process lasted 2-4 weeks from contact to offer.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at PENNYMAC (Plano, TX)
Interview
It was a zoom video interview. Easy interview process. Easy interview questions. Do no fret about it. The two ladies that asked me the questions were nice as well. Make sure to look presentable off course.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PENNYMAC (Saint Louis, MO) in Dec 2021
