      Engineer Interview

      13 Jan 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Hexham, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PDL Solutions (Hexham, England)

      Interview

It was a two stage interview with the first being an online one where I was questioned about my CV and what I felt I was capable of bringing to the company and where I expected to go in the future. Second interview was presenting a project in person about something I completed from my time at university. For this I choose my honours thesis. After that questions was asked about the project in addition to reflecting about my own experiences from it. After this my CV was looked at and questions asked on it including my own reflections again. I mentioned why I looked towards the company based on previous projects and internships. All of the team were great and made me feel welcomed. It was a really enjoyable interview when I was in the office.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

After all questions were answered there were technical questions that are typically seen from Mechanical Engineering degree exams such as if the flow is this high how will the flow move around here in addition to structures such as pipes and moving gears. Best advice is to practise year 1 and 2 fundamentals for the interview. Make sure to apply all of Newton's Laws effectively to these questions and you'll ace it. One additional note: Don't worry about getting the correct answer for every question. It is more important to be out with the thought process as you go through. I couldn't answer a couple off the top of my head but I brought it back to the fundamentals to explain where I'd go and why I'd chosen to look at the problem from the direction chosen.
