The interview process itself was fine. First, was a call with a recruiter who asked basic questions--10 minute call. Next, I had a 2.5 hour video interview with three different members of the technical writing team. They were all super friendly and put me at ease. Asked questions about my experience and resume items and how they pertained to the job. They also shared a lot about the position. That's when things took a turn. I didn't hear anything for a few weeks but then received an email saying they wanted to offer me the position. The recruiter said they were waiting on the "final approval" for the offer and would be sending it soon. 3-4 week later, I received a phone call. The recruiter was confirming verbally that they would offer me the position but were still waiting on the final approval of the offer and would hopefully have it within a week. A full month later, I hadn't heard anything, so I messaged the recruiter requesting an update. I received a one-liner response: "We just found out this position was cancelled." That's it! A day later I received the auto-rejection letter. It was a very strange and misleading process. For them to say I had the job and they were finalizing the offer and then to say it had been cancelled with no real explanation was very unprofessional. I know they are going through an acquisition, but it definitely puts a bad taste in my mouth. I'm thinking it was for the best that I didn't get the job.
