      Trading Intern Interview

      17 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Optiver

      Interview

The company uses a test platform where all questions are given as jpeg (to prevent automated cheating I guess). These all had to be individually loaded, which was happening during the test. First 10 seconds the screen was still empty with just boxes to fill in answers, then the jpegs started to load randomly so I just sort of had to answer those that did show. By the end of the test, not even all jpegs/questions were loaded. Unfortunately, Optiver has this policy where they only give you one chance. Even after having mentioned that the platform was malfunctioning, I got a generic reply back about their 'one attempt policy'. Note to all trading firms uses online maths tests: I have done a lot of these tests and less than half of them have worked for me. I understand you have to reduce the number of applicants for interviews, but at least then really try to make the first automated rounds as robust as possible. I am sure you have the right people to do exactly that ;)

      Question 1

Mental maths test exactly as described above.
