The company approached me, at the advice of a manager who suggested I'd be good for the role. The interviews with Talent and Management were very good. I was the sole candidate and scheduled for a Meet the Team panel.
Six of the most adversarial people I've encountered in a pre-offer stage.
One argued with me that the job title was (for example) Senior Quality Engineer. I assumed a mistake and said no, the job was Principal Pentesting Consultant. He insisted I was wrong and said "well it's basically the same thing.
Another person asked "how old are you?"
Yet another person got hostile when I said "Amy, tell me about your team." She said "oh, so now you want to interview ME? Who is being interviewed here?" and then left the video meeting.
I contacted talent and declined the offer, telling them that they should probably have a professional in this type of interview to guide everyone.
I can handle people like this, even a group of people like this. But there's no reason I'd volunteer to deal with people like this.
