      Support Engineer Interview

      9 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at OpenTent in Sept 2020

      Interview

There was no interview involved for this job. I put in my cover letter and resume and heard back. Got an exercise sent from the co-found (Sam) of the company. The exercise was then sent out at a specific time you indicate and due in three days. For most companies that I have encountered in the past usually involves at least a phone screening or get to know what kind of experiences candidates possess. It's kind of odd that for a company of this size to just give an exercise and outright reject a candidate without much explanation.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No interview questions at all just straight up an exercise from the CEO (Sam), a data file and written exercises: 1) Analysis on a donor's data pulled from Salesforce. Asked to look for trends, whether they should do online or mailed campaigns, and what types of donors they should reach out to. 2) Scenario based - a stakeholder asking for adding“gala” as a campaign record type - communication email. 3) AASL is implementing chatter - How do you think this tool might help ? What would you anticipate being challenging about bringing this tool to staff members who have never used it before? Your response should be no more than 350 words.

Hi, thanks for your review. Our application process is clearly stated on our website, for every job opening. We ask applicants to complete a standard set of exercises, and we aim to bring equity to that assignment by giving each applicant the chance to request which 48-hour window they would like to work on the exercises. We use these exercises to determine viability for moving on to the next stage, which is a first round interview with a member of our team. We receive many excellent responses to our hiring exercises, and are happy to then speak with those qualified applicants.
