First I had a phone interview with the CTO, who did not give me a call at our scheduled time. I emailed him asking if the interview would occur, and he apologized and said he could call in an hour. We had our call, and it went well so he said he'd like to bring me into the office for an in-person interview.
I was flown into Austin, and was interviewed by the CTO and the other PM. I met others on the team, answered questions, and had a demo of the product. That was on a Monday.
Late Wednesday, I received an official offer letter with the salary I asked for. The offer letter had a signature line and referred to a few other documents which were not attached. I responded Thursday morning asking saying I was happy with the compensation and title, and had a few questions.
I did not hear back by the end of the week. They do not have HR, so I figured that this was normal turnaround time.
On Sunday (Mother's Day), I received an email at 1p stating that the position was no longer available because it had been filled by someone else. I have never heard of this happening, and was absolutely astounded.
The CTO had the audacity to start the email with "thank you for applying" and end it with "we'll keep you resume on file for future opportunities."
I would like to tell everyone applying to this company to run in the other direction.
