      Staff Software Engineer Interview

      5 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Omada Health in Jul 2025

      Interview

I interviewed in July 2025. Recruiter was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the process, the one positive throughout the process. Initial recruiter and hiring manager interview was straightforward. Next technical interview caused confusion because the interviewers did not have a coding platform and insisted on me having an IDE setup. However, they ended up not even running code and asked for pseudocode to walk through a task. Also, 1 engineer was listed on the invite, but another engineer showed up unannounced 20 minutes into the interview. For system design interview, they gave a 3 day take home task to design a system with 4 requirements. Although I finished the task, the interviewer had no idea about the task and started the interview with behavioral questions of their own. Halfway in, I had to explain to the interviewer that I put in all this work for this task, and they just glanced through the work and asked me if I put in a lot of time into this. They either were uninformed or just didn't care. I was rejected a week after this interview, due to not having enough experience for the role. The hiring team was inconsistent and unprofessional. They seemed to have all joined the team in the past 3 months, so must explain the lack of experience. What a waste of time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Build a simple FAQ assistant using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for Omada Health. Later on, another 3 day take home task was to design a system that satisfies 4 requirements: data pipeline/lake, LLMOps/MLOps, FastAPI service, compliance and monitoring.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Omada Health

      Interview

Interview Process was pretty slick: * Recruiter Call * Chat with Hiring Manager * Coding Challenge * Design Discussion * Behavioral / Coffee Chat * Director Interview * Follow Up with Hiring Manager These were all the discussions, not necessarily different interview times / slots. The process moved quickly, and didn't feel overly time-consuming or wasteful. I felt like every interview gave Omada insights into me as a developer and person. I was also able to ask questions and get a good feel for the culture and problems they were solving.

      Question 1

I don't want to share interview questions, I think the company deserves to see how people react to questions without preparation if that's what they are looking for. If you need prep time, they will share ahead of the interview.
