Clearing the OLA interview depends on your 'LOCATION'
The interview was a recruitment drive held on a weekend. There was an online hackerrank round followed by 2 rounds. Clearing this would result in the final managerial round.
The hackerrank round was good. The second round was taken by two young folks - Some in-depth java questions were followed by some insightful Ola product related questions. The interviewers were professional. Cleared it to enter round 3.
Round 3 : Was taken by an elderly gentleman who didnt tell his name and just identified as manager of the team. After general pleasantries I was asked the first question on OOPS foundation. Explained it satisfactorily.
Then came the MOST IMPORTANT question - "Where are you from?"; The answer which I gave disappointed the interviewer(Perhaps expected a location from a certain portion of the country). The next 30 mins were pure torture including a 10 mins time period during which the interviewer slept. Some of the questions asked were :
- Given two array make a third array(Word to word the exact question asked)
- Calculate integer out of a string
Ola identifies themselves as equal just employer who wont discriminate based on race, gender or most importantly the 'LOCATION' of the interviewee. But this kind of unjust racist discrimination happens everyday and they turn a blind eye.
When I informed the same to the HR representative she was half smiling half smirking about the issue and told me to just ignore it and re-apply again in few months. This kind of racism unfortunately never gets addressed.
All the best OLA.
