I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Okta (Sheffield, England) in Dec 2019
Interview
Okta’s hiring process is lengthy and in depth but for good reason, they want to hire the best! From start to finish, it was a positive experience and everyone I met along the way were easy to talk to. The whole process takes ~3 months, so be prepared for that and to put in a lot of work.
Round 1 - 30 min informal chat with the hiring manager.
This was to see if we aligned culturally or not. It was a great chat and we aligned well. We had a further 30 min chat a week or so later as well, all great.
Round 2 - Presentation and Demo
Okta set a series of technical challenges in which you have to build a presentation and demo around it. You get a couple of weeks to do this. The Okta team will help you if you ask ask and will provide support and guidance where needed. Don’t be afraid to ask! They are looking for “not it all’s” they want honest and realistic people.
The tech test was a great learning curve, it really does get you “under the hood” about how Okta works, without having to know it inside out.
My presentation and demo was good and got some really good feedback. This helped me progress.
Round 3 - on-site face to face
This round is all about you and how you would fit into the organisation. It’s essentially a panel interview but you meet the panel separately on a 121 basis. This is the candidates opportunity to shine. However, don’t be overlay confident or try too hard. Okta are looking for hugely skilled but grounded people so actively listen and be balanced. I met different people across different parts of the business, all very easy to talk to and got on well with. The panel then meet to discuss taking you to the final round, which would have been with director of sales engineering.
Unfortunately I didn’t quite get enough panel support to see me through. Nevertheless, that wouldn’t deter me from applying again, as I found the ethos of the whole company to be in line with my values.
6 rounds of interviews that include HM, ASD, 2 SEs, panel and VP they panel they gave a tech challenge and had a week to complete. Once done the final step is VP meeting

Good. Nice people, long process though and meetings got pushed a few times which was frustrating as I was still in another role. People seemed friendly and open to talking about culture
