The process was classic with a first phone screening with HR and went normal.
The second interview was the technical interview and technical test. It went terribly bad. First part was about motivations, description of activities, tech stacks... then the technical test which was an online coding test in pair programming. (He looks at what you are writing online). Questions were GAFA-style with data structure / algorithms applied to any language, then SQL and finally Spark.
Because I didn’t have formal background on these topics and do not work on these type of problems in my previous experiences I could not answer any of these questions whether you know or you don’t know. We went like this for about 20 minutes. It was awkward.
I was provided some possible answers about these questions which is good point.
This interview was not about my past experiences but about showing that I know data structure and algorithms and how they are applied in different contexts.
The worse part of this interview was how it ended: I was told that I was not good enough for Ogury expectations and if any questions I still have, I should contact HR. I barely had the time to say thanks you and bye that the call was hang up.
Worst interview in my life.
Ogury seemed to have challenging and interesting technical challenges but I felt mislead (they wanted someone with strong Algorithms skills) and disrespected (multiple questions where it was obvious I could not answer them, why not adapt? And how fast the call ended)
