      Interview

      31 Dec 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at OfficeMax in Feb 2009

      Interview

It took about two weeks from the time I applied until I interviewed. They were, at the time, using an outside company to screen and interview since they have a revolving door policy. If you are lucky enough to figure out how the game works in the first few months of employment, you might be able to make it more than a year, struggling just to keep up. I was told I would make 50++ my first year and then 75 or more. That was the first lie.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A short demo at the end. You are asked to pick a small bag at the end and pull out the contents then, with no real knowledge of the products, are asked to gie a short sales presentation, basically winging it without the benefit of any training or product knowledge. Listening to the team of two managers you will be lead to a certain point and then, if you have listened, they will lead you to dig deeper into the sale. You will be told they are going to upgrading computers or opening a new office, division, replacing worn out furniture or something along those lines. As a good salesman, you should be exploring or asking for that business, or a shot at it, by getting the name or department head, etc,. in able to procure that new increase in sales. If you miss the clues, you fail the interview.
