      Business Development Manager Interview

      6 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kuala Lumpur
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at OYO (Kuala Lumpur) in Jan 2024

      Interview

Let me save you some valuable time and sanity: steer clear of OYO Malaysia if you value professionalism and respect in the interviewing process. My experience with this company's hiring procedures was nothing short of a circus act. First off, be prepared to dedicate a good chunk of your life to their interviewing process. Count 'em – SIX interviews! I mean, who do they think they are, the FBI conducting a background check on a potential double agent? The questions weren't even that relevant; it felt like I was auditioning for a role in a soap opera rather than a job at a hotel chain. But wait, it gets better. After enduring the torture of six rounds of interviews, guess what? Crickets. Ghosted. Not a single word from them. Now, I get it, rejection stings, but the least they could do is send an automated rejection email. Is that too much to ask? Oh, but the cherry on top? After weeks of silence, they suddenly remember my existence and offer me a position. Ha! As if I would even consider working for a company that treats potential employees like disposable tissues. I decided to do them a favor and ghosted them right back. And if you thought their interviewing process was a mess, wait until you hear about the internal culture. According to a former employee, the company heads and managers are not just incompetent but downright racist, attempting to force Indian culture down the throats of Malaysian employees. And let's not forget about their fantastic work-life balance policy – no overtime pay provided, because apparently, your time isn't worth anything to them. But it doesn't end there. The former employee also mentioned that they were forced to work until 1 am, feeling like Batman saving Gotham City except without the cool gadgets and cape. So, if you enjoy wasting precious time, being left in the dark, dealing with unprofessionalism, working in a toxic environment, and feeling like a nocturnal superhero, then by all means, apply to OYO Malaysia. But if you have an ounce of self-respect and value your time, run – don't walk – away from this dumpster fire of a company.

HR based in India, very messy process. Put me off working for the company, if even the initial stages feels like an after thought, then it's a clear sign of what is to follow.
