I interviewed at Nutcracker Therapeutics (Emeryville, CA)
Interview
Recruiter call and then Hiring manager call. Finally On-site interview. Job was offered after two weeks. Joined then company a month later with a good offer! Just to note that no 401K was offered
It was overall a pleasant experience. They are responsive in contacting me and following up. but the culture there was not very suitable for me. I didn’t accept the offer but the interview process was good.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Nutcracker Therapeutics in Jan 2023
Interview
Started out pretty standard. Recruiter interview, then hiring manager then head of engineering. I was then invited to a panel interview. A day before the panel interview, it was cancelled and I had a pleasant phonecall with the recruiter who said that the position was changing. Weird but not unheard of. However, they wanted me to restart the process and chat with the hiring manager and head of engineering again. It seemed like this time there was a specific agenda. One of the interviewers was very pleasant to talk to with a few technical questions. The other interviewer asked 2 questions, and after 10 minutes opened the floor to me. A little weird.. I definitely could have done a better job responding to the 2 questions but it did feel like he had already made up his mind in the first few minutes of the interview. A friend of mine was interviewed for the same role and described a similar experience (I would also argue he was a better fit for the role and had more specific experience they were looking for but still did not get a followup). This specific position has been open for over 7 months, so it's possible that the company is looking for a unicorn so don't be discouraged if you have a similar experience. It's also possible that they have constantly redefined ideas for what they need on the team (possibly a yellow flag in terms of organizational efficiency).
