Question 1
Tell me what you know about Nutanix? They will ask you to rank your skills on Virtualization, Linux, Storage, Networking and base the questions off of that. TCP vs UDP? SSD vs NVME? Types of hypervisor? File movement in linux command line? OSI/TCP-IP model 3 way handshake. What happens when a vm host loses power? What is the VM type of priority. Like the failover. Tell me about a time you worked in a team? What was that like?
I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Nutanix (Durham, NC) in Oct 2019
Interview
Overall the interview experience was amazing. Four “parts” to the interview for me. Firstly, I completed an online technical assessment ~50 questions. Then came a phone screen with the recruiter. After that, I was invited in for an open house which was awesome. About a week after that, I had a one-on-one technical phone interview. Finally, a 2 hour in person interview. The first hour was with 2 managers, the last hour was technical with two SRE’s.
The recruiter did an amazing job of keeping me up to date. Out of all the companies I interviewed with (IBM, SAS, Oracle), Nutanix’s interview process was the best. It also seemed the most fair to really assess if I was a good fit. Shoutout to the recruiter, she did a great job.
