Important Note:
In the Northern Territory Government (NTG), reference checks are often conducted before your interview, and candidates are not usually notified in advance. This practice can catch many people off guard, especially those unfamiliar with NTG recruitment processes. While long-term NTG employees may view this as standard, it’s quite unusual and not common practice in my experience.
