Received a call from the talent recruiter and we went over my experience, the company and salary requirements. All of it sounded good to her and she forwarded my info to the hiring manager. He gave me a call and it all went downhill. First, I have 15 years of experience spanning collections (more limited), credit, sales, and leadership for some pretty big players in this field. He knew nothing about the company I work for (affiliated with one of the big three in Motor City and a household name for over 100 years) and then had the audacity to tell me they’d likely start me at $50k a year due to my “lack of experience”. 15 years is a lack of experience and is deserving of a $38k cut in pay. Because of my unwillingness to immediately relocate (the territory is an hour from my residence and I already travel there 2-3 days a week for my current job) he told me he would have to get back to me. I never answered his calls. You can’t insult people and then wonder why they decide it’s not a good fit.
