      Associate Interview

      19 May 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Next Street (New York, NY) in May 2015

      Interview

Phone + onsite interviews. Basic behavioral questions and some deep dives into your resume. Partner interview was fantastic: had a clear vision and strategy for the company. Director and associate interviews were lackluster. Although some had impressive backgrounds, most lacked interest in the company's mission and drive to succeed. They were very vocal about having a "type-B person culture", and hired a lot of burnt out bankers. Immediately clear that culture was not a great fit, but the people were nice.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Next Street in Aug 2025

      Interview

There were about three rounds in the interview process. First was a phone conversation with a Senior Manager that was relatively quick and easy. This was followed by a two-part interview with two other staff members, which included a behavioral interview and a case study exercise. Lastly, there was a data analysis take-home, which was concluded with a presentation to their team. This take-home assignment was intensive and required a significant amount of time. Up until the last interview, Next Street's HR was responsive. However, that was a month ago, and it has been crickets. I did not expect to be ghosted.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Next Street (New York, NY) in Dec 2016

      Interview

Connected with multiple people via linked in. All very receptive, helpful, and nice. Got along well so skipped right to in person interview 3 interviews (30 minutes each) - 1 with equivalent level, 1 with more senior role, 1 with managing partner of NYC office. Typically resume questions and behavioral interview questions followed by "thought questions" but these were more concrete around market sizing, growth strategy, and how to approach a theoretical client problem (3 different scenarios) Final presentation was a 1 hour analysis of a small business and growth strategies including a financial analysis (presented informally i.e. At a table, to 5 practitioners)

      Question 1

Imagine you have an ice cream store in Brooklyn that is having profitability issues, what types of questions would you ask? (After finding out where I live) would you open a cafe on your street why or why not?
