I applied online. I interviewed at Newsquest in Feb 2025
Interview
It was a simple interview, they wanted to know how well I knew the area and publication. The interviewers were nice enough and were interested in recent work and asked me questions about how I handed workloads and prioritised work. However I never heard back which I feel is unprofessional for any job interview.

I applied online. I interviewed at Newsquest (Southampton, England)
Interview
Video or in-person interview with the editor. It's very straightforward, but the key thing is that you should know the patch well. They'll test your knowledge of the patch. If you are an NCTJ-qualified journalist, your chances of getting the job are higher; however, it's not always the case. At the end of the day, you should be passionate about the community and the paper you are reporting on/for.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Newsquest (Newport, Newport, Wales) in May 2020
Interview
Straightforward and engaging, pleasant environment and made to feel at ease. Interviewed by three members of the team and what should have been intimidating, didn't feel so at all. Was made to feel welcome and asked all appopriate questions for the position.
