I was contacted by the recruiter over LinkedIn asking if I was interested in an internship, and I made it clear I was looking for a full time position. He said I should apply anyways. We set up a phone screening (after a couple of technical "glitches" on their end).
I asked a lot of questions at the start about the company, specifically the ethics of the device and he seemed taken aback that I would even question that. We chewed up about 10 minutes talking through that and then a little bit about my experience, some EXTREMELY quick and and EXTREMELY easy technical questions and then he abruptly ended it because he said he had scheduled another call at that time. Who schedules a 20 minute technical screening and assumes it won't go slightly over? And why wasn't he more up-front about that so I would have known to go a little more quickly?
At the end of the call he said he thought he saw a better fit for me at a position that wasn't listed on their job board and he'd follow up the next week. After not hearing anything I emailed him to no avail. Waited another two weeks before messaging him on LinkedIn where he said he "didn't expect me to follow up because I didn't seem very interested in the position"...I guess I was the first person he'd ever met to ask questions back during an interview. Either way, he should have followed up with me regardless of what he gauged my interest to be.
