The recruiter reached out to interview me for the Director of Product role after receiving my application and resume. During the interview, she mentioned that I would be a good fit for the Sr PM position after looking at my resume, even though I am significantly beyond that level and having been interviewing for Director level roles at other comparable companies.
I don't particularly care if TripActions didnt think I was a good fit for their current Director opening; that is their prerogative. The frustrating part was that I felt misled - first, she should have included that in her email to me and I would have saved us both time by saying that was not of interest, but more importantly, it didnt even come up until I specifically asked after she asked me to choose which product interested me (I knew only one had a Director level opening).
Not to mention a number of other mishaps including another recruiter calling me at a random time and the recruiter ghosting me for weeks. It should be in the recruiters and the company's best interest to be upfront with candidates, and respond after a respectful amount of time if they want to attract top talent.
