I applied for the role based on a match in my qualifications and my desire to return to the Higher Ed community. I was excited to receive an invitation to interview and the HR person made the arrangements.
Upon getting to the interview I found out the role wasn't exactly for the University but for their Academies - B2B and B2C products. I was surprised since the job post was misleading and did not mention the Academies at all but appeared to be for the Univeristy proper. However, I was still interested as there was still in alignment in my interests, skills. and passions.
The interview went well and my interview said at the end "When you meet with [the next group of interviewers] make sure to talk about [specifics]." This led me to believe he was impressed enough to move me forward.
I sent my thank you, received a nice response, and then 10 days later a form letter that I wasn't advancing.
From the misleading job post to the misleading comment that I would be moving forward - this felt horrible all around. I do feel like I dodged a bullet if the hiring process is unorganized I imagine the rest of the organization is as well.
