I had a negative interview experience, I came out of it feeling like I was not even sure if I would take the job if I got offered. This was because the three people that interviewed me were clearly either bored, stiff or standoffish. (I have to caveat this by saying when I did accept the offer and got to know these people they were in fact lovely.) But it goes to show that interviewing is a skill and people should be trained in it. The whole process felt overly formal, not like a conversation or a two way street. I think this was in part because of the Trust using very generic competency questions. I came in prepared to discuss my specific knowledge and skills that role required but instead got a load of 'tell us a time you...'
