There was a preselection of CV and then an interview on video call for around an hour. You will be given a simple test after this round. I got ghosted after the interview, so I don't know if there would be something with HR, the manager, etc.
The interview was quite good, or maybe there was something sneaky, but I didn't know. It was a typical DevOps interview. First, there is an introduction of the company and the team, and then you will introduce yourself. There were many questions to understand your mastery of relevant toolchains and languages, but also for a better understanding of you. At the end of the interview, I had a very positive image of the company and the team as well as this interview.
The test was a coding exercise, which was not difficult. I submitted it on the same day as the interview.
That's all, no more messages from them and complete radio silence. I asked what would happen next, but they didn't answer me.
Today, I tried a last follow-up, and nothing happened except that they sent me a signup invitation for their internships. It was when I went to the workday portal by coincidence that I knew my application was rejected.
I would prefer to be refused from the beginning. You gave people lots of expectations and then disappeared on the half-way but leaving a sneaky process; this is just a perfect way to undermine the company image of an innovative tech firm.
Giving your applicants a negative response with or without feedback is totally okay. But ghosting as the applicant is engaged in the process and sending a webinar signup link instead of a decline message after a follow-up mail is unacceptable and insulting.
