The position for the Direct Energy brand of NRG, based in Calgary, was advertised in November 2024. After applying online, I received a response from a recruiter in Houston, TX, to set up a preliminary interview.
Two weeks later, I had a 30-minute phone interview filled with generic questions like why I was job hunting and what attracted me to the position. It offered little insight into the role or the company.
The second round was a 45-minute interview with the hiring manager, who arrived 15 minutes late, disrupting my focus and setting a negative tone.
The questions were standard and uninspired, covering my background and experience without delving deeper into my qualifications or the role's specifics.
The third round was a complete disaster. Scheduled with the competetive GTM and Sales and digital management team, the 45-minute interview was abruptly cut to 30 minutes and was poorly structured and repetitive.
Technical issues with the interview link only added to the chaos, leaving me with a negative impression of the company's organization and professionalism.
Overall, the process was highly disappointing, characterized by disorganization and a lack of respect for candidates' time.
Future applicants should be wary and prepared for a frustrating experience.
