      Entry Level Account Manager Interview

      30 Aug 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NLC

      Interview

The HR team (Brittany and Megan) contacted me via telephone. They asked me simple questions; for example, if I was okay with the commute, the job requirement, etc. Then they scheduled me in for an in person interview that week. I didn't expect the head person who runs the SF branch to interview me. Within a couple of hours, I was contacted to come in for a second interview (which consisted of hanging out with one of the Lead Account Managers).

      Question 1

Don't quite remember, but I think they value people who are go-getters. Basically people who do things without being asked.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at NLC (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

I saw several postings on job sits such as CareerBuilder, Indeed, etc. I was going for a Marketing position so I felt this was the perfect position. I sent in my resume and within a day I was called for a preliminary interview. It was a quick 15-minute interview at their office in San Francisco. I was excited to hear that the hiring manager wanted me in for a second interview. However, after doing research, their company is more about sales and being on your feet for hours at a time. Unfortunately, I opted out of the second interview after my research and what I wanted as a career. However, it is great for someone who is looking for entrepreneurship or hands-on sales position.

      Interview

Do your research before even accepting an interview at this place. Do not let them fool you, this is a door-to-door sales position with a salary based solely on commission and they will never give you a straight answer. The company has gone by several different names in the past few years, none of which are rated well and have poor reputations. There are three interviews: a short in person interview, followed by an all day tag along with one of their salespeople, ending with a third in person interview. Finally, they will ask for you to send an email answering three questions: What do you offer to NLC? Why are you the best candidate for the position? When can you start? I received an offer the next day. It was a 15 page pdf that told me everything I already knew, providing no new information about what I would be doing. I told them that before I accepted the offer, I wanted some more information. I asked what I would be doing on a day to day basis, if there was an existing client base, and if any sick days, paid leave, or benefits were offered. The next day I got a response ignoring my questions and retracting their offer saying that they made a mistake and we were not a good fit for each other.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They aren't really interested in your experience. They mostly just ask questions about leadership.
